Tenodi Boris

Can you please introduce yourself?
My name is Tenodi Boris. I'm a German based Croatian Producer and songwriter. I was introduced to music very young. At the age of 7 I started my first piano lessons and with 12 I created some first songs. I have been creating ever since.

Your latest track ¨Red Line¨ was released in March on RetroReverbRecords. It is truly a real synthwave banger. What was the idea behind the track?
First of all thank you! Inspiration for the song came from my other song actually named Neon Run, which is also an Italodisco style song. I made that song not actually knowing that it has a specific genre and on some radio show they compared me with Giorgio Moroder and after taking time to research his music and Italodisco in general I was inspired making this one as well.

I love the anime video clip on YouTube. What can you tell us about that?
The anime cut scene I used is from the anime movie "RedLine" made in 2009 by Madhouse. It was a hugely underrated anime movie. It's kind of a tribute to this anime.

Can you share some of your plans for this year with us?
Sure, in June I have a new single coming called Raging Storm and it's going to be a somewhat darker and energetic piece with folk elements, definitely worth looking at. After that I have a summer vocally-feel good single in mind before August if all goes well.

When was your first encounter with synthwave music?
Well I love ´80s music and always loved it. From my parents vinyls to music from my Atari or Commodore 128, it's hard to pick the biggest influence in my life. When I started making music at first it was all kind of retro styled music, but years into my career I didn't actually realise that the synthwave community is very much alive and kicking. So in 2020 I decided to rebrand myself as a synthwave artist and make only retro kind of songs.

When working in the studio, how goes the process for creating a new song?
It's always different for me every song. I don't have a method like many of my colleagues for making songs. I let the inspiration lead and I just ride this wave.

The synthwave scene in Germany is really strong with a lot of producers creating amazing music and several live events. How do you think it´s going in your country?
Yes it is, but for a "newcomer" it's not that easy to find the right door to come in. So I'm still looking into it :)...

What is your favorite movie of the ´80s?
I always loved comedy movies and sci-fi, but when combining great music in a movie I have to say Beverley Hills Cop is my personal favourite.

And finally any last words to the synthwave community?
I love the synthwave community. From all kinds of communities that exist today, this one is the least poisonous of them all. It's not unusual to have a pleasant chat with a fellow artist or a fan and have a great time. I just want to say, don't let these hard times change you. That's all :)...
